Acacia to remain private

Friday 31 Jan 2020

WAPOU Secretary Andy Smith spoke out against the WA Government’s blindsiding decision to allow Acacia Prison to remain privately operated.

Mr Smith called for the government to give WAPOU access to an independent KPMG report that showed it was more cost-effective for the prison to remain privately run, but Minister for Corrective Services Fran Logan has not confirmed whether the union would be able to see the report.
