School's back for Term 2

Friday 24 Apr 2020

The recent announcement by the State Government that public schools will be opening in Term 2 may have some implications for WAPOU members with school aged children.

While the announcement provided flexibility for parents to choose to keep their children at home, members need to be aware that access to carer’s leave will not be available from 29 April for parents who make that choice.

With many schools choosing to utilise Tuesday 28 April as a preparation day or pupil free day, carer’s leave is still available if required for parents who are unable to make alternative care arrangements for their children on that day.

Carer’s leave is still available if you are unable to attend work because you are required to provide care or support to a family member due to an illness or injury.

Should you have any queries in relation to your entitlements, please contact your WAPOU Industrial Officer.
